My name is Jay. I have been in this industry for over 15+ years, but before we get into that, let me tell you a little bit about myself;
I was born and raised in Southern California. I went to Fontana High School, located in "sunny so. Cal". Shorty after high school, I attended college out of state. I earned my bachelor’s degree in business, and finished with an MBA in Global Business. I, also, served in the world’s GREATEST military, serving in the U.S. Air Force!
I am the father of one child (a son- who plays college football on the east coast), I am very proud of him. When I am not closing deals, pricing deals, or helping people achieve their home & investment dreams, I enjoy; working out, attending faith service, watching movies, attending museums, trying new food places, and traveling- I am a “travel junkie”.
But enough about my personal life, let me tell you about how I got into this industry, and why I am the BEST at what I do (humbly put)… In 2004 I was working within a large retail chain’s administration department, when I was approached by someone (a real estate broker), who heard me speaking about retail sales. He said; “Have you ever considered real estate? You would make an awesome salesperson!” At the time, I had a cushy salaried job, where I traveled around the U.S. and helped set-up new programs for the large retail chain. I had always wanted to get into real-estate, however, I just thought I would be more involved on the “property-flipping” side of the business.
I took a risk, and left my job with the stable salary, and leaped feet first into the crazy world of mortgage loans & lending. Quickly, I rose to the top of the industry during the “Housing Boom” of the time between 2004-2008. I became recognized as a leader in the region, then eventually the state. I switched companies, where I became a “Lending Manager”, helping train and supervise new loan officers. It was a crazy time in the industry, where nearly every deal could be made, every scenario was possible, and regulations were much more lenient to borrowers.
THEN- BOOOOM! The mortgage industry was brought to its knees, by the housing crisis of 2008. It was a devastating time to not just home owners, but people working in the industry alike. Never before, in history, had the market taken such a fast “crash”. Many of my peers were unable to withstand the drought, resuming their careers prior to real estate, starting new careers or simply retiring. I NEVER LEFT! Instead… I saw opportunity. I opened my very own consulting firm, “Holman & Holman LLC”, and began to consult foreign investors. I moved into commercial lending briefly with Chase Bank, and then direct with a private broker. As my consulting firm took off, I was financially prosperous, but the entire time, I always felt: SOMETHING WAS MISSING!
My book of business and clients from my old mortgage lending days, stayed in tact, because I can PROUDLY say, I NEVER sold a loan that didn’t benefit my client's BEST interest. I always saw mortgage as a responsibility, and the money made would come from doing “good business!”, having a GREAT reputation and always putting the needs of the client above the commissions. So often I would get phone calls from old clients, where I would refer them to other trusted lenders. They would usually always call me and ask me to return. After working and achieving some financial success, I always wondered what that void was that I felt. I decided to take a look into it, because I wanted to feel whatever that absence was…and that’s when I realized it…
I MISSED THE FEELING OF HELPING INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, RETIREES & VETERANS! I missed that residential market clientele. The people with children, business aspirations, service to the country benefits… those souls. Those faces fed me the energy I was missing. I immediately began to plan my return to the residential lending sector.
